Welcome to Catalytic, a blog to discuss the discussion of subject matter from Higher Education, High School, Middle School and Elementary Schools. This time Katalistiwa will discuss a question that is often asked in school exams. The questions are: The median of the data is
Detailed discussion of the Median
- Me =data to ½ (n + 1)
To find the median from the question table above, we create another column with the title frequency cumulative (fk)
f fk value
5 3 3
6 5 3 + 5 = 8
7 2 8 + 2 = 10
8 4 10 + 4 = 14
9 6 14 + 6 = 20
So lots of data is n=20
From the table above, the meaning of fk is
- Value 5 is data 1 to 3
- Value 6 is data 4 to 8
- Value 7 is data 9th to 10th
- Value 8 is the 11th to 14th data
- Value 9 is the 15th to 20th data
the median is
=data to ½ (n + 1)
=to ½ (20 + 1)
= data to ½ (21)
= to 10.5
it means
The median lies between the 10th and 11th
= ½ (10th data + 11th data)
=½ (7 + 8)
= ½ (15)
=7,5
